Friday, October 5, 2018

David S. Taylor of Berenato & White, LLC has accepted an invitation to serve a one-year term as a member of the Patentable Subject Matter Task Force of the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA).  Founded in 1897, the AIPLA is a national bar association constituted primarily of lawyers in private and corporate practice, in government service, and in the academic community.  The AIPLA represents law firms, companies, and institutions involved directly or indirectly in the practice of patent, trademark, copyright, trade secret, unfair competition law, and other fields of law affecting intellectual property, as well as owners and users of intellectual property.  The Patentable Subject Matter Task Force was created in response to U.S. Supreme Court and appellate court decisions applying Section 101 of Title 35 of the United States Code to determine the scope of patentable subject matter.  In the past, the Task Force has, among other things, been charged by the AIPLA Board with drafting legislation to revise Section 101.
